How much noise does the SuperSilent generate? 
The saw blade is extremely quiet. A noise reduction of minus 20 dB(A) 
in comparison to conventional saw blades is achievable. This equates to a 
75% reduction in the perceived volume and a 99% reduction in sound energy.

Is the saw so quiet that I no longer need to wear hearing protection? 
Despite the significantly reduced noise level, it is always recommended to wear hearing protection.

What sizes and versions are available for the SuperSilent?
VERSION 2: Diameter 303 Z43 main saw, as well as matching diameter 80 Z12,
diameter 100 Z16 and diameter 120 Z20 scoring circular saw blades.
VERSION 3: Diameter 300 Z43 main saw, as well as matching diameter 80 Z12,

Will other sizes also be available in future?
Yes, we will be continuously developing our range. We are already planning to add additional sizes. We will present further developments and new sizes on our website.

What do I need to take into account when using the SuperSilent?
The SuperSilent is a delicate precision tool with a width of just 
2.0 mm (Version 2), which is particularly suited to applications that require 
high cutting quality. This should be taken into account when working with 
this tool. You should therefore not use this saw blade for cutting solid wood 
workpieces under high residual tension (planks, unplaned goods, etc.) roughly 
to size, or if the workpiece is not flush with the machine. Ensure that the 
material is fed in parallel to the tool. This means that it is vital to always 
ensure that the material is not pushed "towards the saw blade" but instead 
"past the saw blade and in parallel to it". If this is not done, it is possible for 
lateral forces to act on the tool, generating an unwanted build-up of heat. 
This can cause the saw blade to deflect, which can result in it breaking down 
completely. The SuperSilent Version 3 can better compensate for these lateral 
forces due to its higher freedom of movement, which makes it easier to use.

I can't get through the material when sawing. What is wrong?
Experience has shown that, if the SuperSilent is unable to make its way 
through the material, this is due to the material being clamped in multiple 
places. This causes the material to lose all degrees of freedom which would 
otherwise enable it to yield, resulting in the tool becoming stuck. When using
the tool, it is therefore important to ensure that the workpiece is not clamped
in multiple places. This may be the case, for instance, if the parallel stop is 
slid far forwards in front of the saw blade. This prevents the workpiece from 
yielding laterally, as it is prevented from moving to one side by the parallel 
stop, and the machine operator may be pushing laterally against the workpiece
on the other side. The same situation can come about when working with a 
pressure beam and with the parallel stop slid forwards. Tip: If the tool becomes
stuck, first slide the parallel stop backwards. Take a measurement before doing 
so. Then carry out work without using the parallel stop.

The tool deflects during use. What is happening?
Deflection of the saw blade is always associated with heat acting on the basic body. This means that the workpiece is coming into contact with the basic body during sawing, causing it to heat up. Ensure that you push the workpiece "past the saw blade and in parallel to it" rather than "towards the saw blade" when feeding it in, as described above. This enables the tool to cut freely, preventing contact between the workpiece and the basic body.
Tip: Do not position your hands on the side of the workpiece, as this tends to cause you to push the workpiece towards the saw blade. Instead, you can select a position near to the saw blade. This increases the chance 
of achieving a parallel feed. However, for reasons of safety, ensure that you always maintain sufficient distance from the saw blade. In addition, never work together with someone else to push your workpiece forwards. Doing so makes it nearly impossible to achieve
parallel feed.

Up to now, I have been using a two-part scoring unit. Will there be 
any benefits for me if I switch over to a one-part scoring unit?
The benefit of our one-part scoring unit is that it is designed to perfectly match
the main saw. This means that it is no longer necessary to adjust the scoring 
unit, and that it is very easy to use in combination with the SuperSilent main saw.

I already have a scoring unit. Do I now need a new 
SuperSilent-model scoring unit?
In principle, you can use any conventional one-part or two-part scoring unit in combination with a SuperSilent main saw, as long as the scoring unit can be set to a cutting width of 2.0 mm or 2.4 mm.
However, we recommend that you switch over to using a SuperSilent scoring unit, as this enables you to enjoy all the benefits of SuperSilent twice over (main saw and scoring unit). With a cutting width of 2.0 mm or 2.4 mm, our one-part scoring units are 
designed specifically for the main saw, which dispenses with the need to carry out the tedious process of setting a two-part scoring unit. Since our scoring units have also been designed to use the SuperSilent technology, they enable work to be carried out exceptionally quietly and, thanks to the diamond technology included in their design, highly cost-effectively and for extremely long periods. Changing over to a SuperSilent scoring unit is therefore always worthwhile.

What is the proper thickness for the splitting wedge with SuperSilent?
This is due to the reduced basic body thickness of 1.8 mm. The rule for 
selecting the thickness of the splitting wedge is that it should be thicker than 
the basic body and thinner than the cutting width. Therefore, the SuperSilent 
requires a splitting wedge that is thicker than 1.8 mm but thinner than 
2.0 mm or 2.4 mm.
 
Why do I need a separate splitting wedge for the SuperSilent?
We recommend that you use a splitting wedge with a thickness of 1.9 
mm. This provides optimal protection for you and your tool. You should 
never use a splitting wedge with a thickness of 1.8 mm, as it would be 
safer to work with our 1.9 mm design. Our splitting wedges are also 
usually wider than the original splitting wedges provided by machine 
manufacturers, which provides additional stability when sawing.

Where can I purchase a splitting wedge with a thickness of 1.9 mm?
To make things as easy as possible for you, we offer a range of splitting 
wedges that have been optimised for use with the SuperSilent with a 
thickness of 1.9 mm, available directly from us. You can find an up-to-date 
overview of our splitting wedges in our SuperSilent catalogue on our website.

I can't find a suitable splitting wedge in your splitting wedge range. 
What do I do now?
If it is not possible to find a suitable splitting wedge, we are happy to provide 
further help. Simply contact us – we may have the required splitting wedge 
in stock in the meantime. Alternatively, we will be happy to design and 
manufacture a custom splitting wedge to suit your machine. To do so, we will 
require the splitting wedge that you currently use in our facility in order to 
use it as a template. This service is non-binding – simply get in touch with 
us. Please note that, even if we manufacture a custom splitting wedge
for your machine, it may still be necessary to use metal foil to correct the 
alignment between the saw blade and the splitting wedge (see: My splitting 
wedge became stuck on the first cut. How can I deal with this?).

You have supplied me with a splitting wedge. Why does it look different to the splitting wedge I have used up to now?
In most cases, our splitting wedges are wider than the original splitting wedges provided by the machine manufacturer. You should therefore not be surprised if our splitting wedge is larger than your original splitting wedge. This provides you with additional stability when 
sawing – which is important to prevent the workpiece from becoming stuck. We strongly advise against buying a splitting wedge that has been ground down, as this would not provide the same additional stability.

My splitting wedge became stuck on the first cut. How can I deal with this?
When designing sawing machines, machine manufacturers include an alignment of the centre of the circular saw blade with the centre of the splitting wedge in their calculations. In conventional tools, this imaginary centre line correlates with the usual protrusion of the teeth. The SuperSilent has a thinner basic body and a proportionally smaller tooth protrusion of 0.1 mm. This means that the splitting wedge is no longer correctly aligned with the saw blade on some machines. It is therefore offset from the circular saw blade, which can result in the splitting wedge becoming stuck. This offset is easy to correct by positioning stainless metal foil underneath the splitting wedge. To help you avoid spending time looking for a suitable metal foil, we will begin offering self-adhesive metal foil that enables easy installation in various thicknesses in the near future. Alternatively, the position of the splitting wedge can be changed on many machines using screws on the splitting wedge adaptor.
